We’ve added another demo day this year, out of our normal seasons, when our guest will be Ellen Rijsdorp from the Netherlands. Ellen is in the UK for several shows in the summer, and has agreed to spend the day with us. You may have met her at shows in the UK in the past.
10 am – tea and coffee
10:30am – ELLEN RIJSDORP
12:45pm – lunch
1:45pm – ELLEN RIJSDORP
Ellen Rijsdorp lives in Delft Netherlands, a city with a rich tradition in ceramics, not just Delft Blue! After finishing ceramics school in Gouda (1985-1991) Ellen began to develop her own personal shapes, textures and style. Ellen’s ceramic objects are inspired by natural structures such as sand dunes, ice crystals, wood, rocks and leaves. The objects have large increasingly convex surfaces, accentuated with small textured elements. The result is a balance between planning and chance, contained within a subtle framework that controls it. Wheel-thrown outer surfaces shape provides the primary basis for her work. Objects are glazed and fired at 1220c. The interior and exterior are finished and with bright gold lustre, enhancing the shapes and making the objects appear to shine. There is a real contrast between reflecting gold and mat surfaces. For more information visit:-www.ellenrijsdorp.nl
Display of members work: We would like to see examples of your work! It’s always nice to see what people are making.
‘Exchange and Mart’ – there will be tables for small items for sale or exchange
Lunch. We have re-introduced pot luck lunch. Please bring a plate of food to share, either savoury, salad or cake, put your contribution on the table when you arrive. Cold food only please. Alternatively bring your own. Don’t forget to bring your own mug! We still need volunteers to take the cling film etc. off shortly before lunch and to set up the urns and cups for tea and coffee (so people can help themselves). Cakes will be served at lunchtime, to avoid crumbs later in the day! We also need volunteers to help set up from 9am and pack away at the end of the day.
Queries about lunches, please contact Trudy at email mailto:[email protected]
Please book and pay using the form below. You can also book by downloading the form from here and sending it to Trudy at the address on the form.
