Commission to make a part for a vintage water filter

I am restoring a vintage Berkefeld water filter (picture attached) so it can once again fulfil it’s intended purpose.

I need a sort of bucket, with a small sturdy lip, to sit in the top and hang about half way down the main container. Then there will be a small hole in the centre for the filter to screw into.

Measurements will have to be quite specific to ensure everything fits so I have attached an annotated cross section of what the finished product will be.

The only other requirement would be for it to be fully glazed with a food safe glaze. I know it’s not very exciting but a clear glaze will be fine as it will not be visible.

If anyone would like to offer their services please do get in touch and we can discuss finer details and of course price.

Commission to make a ceramic face mask

I am interested in one or more bespoke masks produced from High-Fire Stoneware clay. These would be for my own use and I would want them to be wearable. There is a certain style I am going for that is sci fi tribal – see attached image as an example.

I can create a plaster mould so that it fits my face properly, I want this to be fully wearable and comfy to be worn if I use it while meditating. I have a slight bent nose from an accident and would need a larger breathing hole as I am asthmatic. I want this for just me, I am to be the only one to wear this so it should not be universal fit. I have left the nose space empty, I am not sure if it should be or a nose area created to fit mine.

Not sure how heavy such mask/masks would be but I think it would use three holes for straps at least.

I am treating this similar to the mask worn by a character called “Darth Nihilus”, like a hybrid between a death mask and a piece of armour. I want the feel to be like a mask but also like armour, thick enough to feel substantial rather than a delicate object, though I understand it is still breakable. Something not too fragile, a Venetian mask would be too ornamental and delicate so ideally a bit stronger.

I would like the appearance to be glossy, lustrous and shimmer, but not something that screams fancy dress or stag do or glamorous sparkle. Like Darth Vader’s mask but more glossy and with more black. Tenmoku I have read is the best choice for this mask with the addition of clear high silica glass to add depth, I would like it to be like Obsidian but with more depth, something I could look into.

I have shown a sketch of the mask I want, the top areas I want to be raised higher than the top of my head, they are not horns but fluid in appearance. I would like the mask to curve around my face to contour.

Commission to make a set of 6 mugs

My mum is autistic so very particular about her mugs and she got some while in Scotland and it’s the only mug she can use and I can’t find any online so would it be possible to get around six mugs made for Mother’s Day? I don’t mind paying whatever price as long as it’s reasonable.

I would like around six barrel-belly shaped mug with a flared rim, ideally with a little place where you can put your thumb and a slim curved handle. With patterns she can feel on the sides if possible, glazed to be pretty?

Please see attached photos for the sort of shape and handle I’m looking for. If you’re able to help, please contact me and we can discuss further.

Square Tile Cutter

I’m trying to purchase a square tile cutter for making handmade tiles, with internal dimensions of 108 mm length and width.

My pottery teacher has one that she reckons is about 25 years old and comes from Potterycrafts, but their current ones although they look very very similar are a slightly different size. This means I can only make my tiles while I’m in her class rather than getting on and doing them at home – I’ve tried cutting them with a knife and a straight edge, but I get far better consistency with her tile cutter. She can’t lend it to me because she needs it for other people.

I’ve looked online and can’t find one of the right dimensions. Obviously, I should’ve thought about this before I started, but hindsight is a wonderful thing!

If anybody’s got one that they would sell or even hire me, I’d be very grateful.

I’m based in Whitstable, Kent.

The north facing property close to the traffic lights at junction of Freeman street and Wellington Street, is located in between 2 other businesses; one an established Martial arts venue on the corner, the other directly next door currently being refurbished as a motor workshop garage with hand car wash. It’s prominent position with large frontal display windows encourages good footfall and passing trade.

Parking, though not provided directly outside the property, can be found close by. Public car parks are also a stones throw away.

Commission to make a pair of large floor lamps

Some several years ago, a potter near Mold Flint made a pair of floor lamp bases for my wife and myself when we lived in Cheshire.

My wife died six years ago and I am considering giving my son and daughter a pair each for Christmas if I can get them made or something similar (see photo).

If you would be interested in making something along these lines, could you be kind enough to give me a cost guide?

Many thanks

Roger Brown
