Claudine Fiche
Having been a secondary school Modern Languages teacher for most of my adult life, I am a relative newcomer to ceramics. I started evening classes in 2010 at the West End Centre in Aldershot, with Lucy Burley. I also later attended throwing classes with Lene Ryden, but I then started slip casting with fellow Anglian Potters member, Ian Siragher. Together, we are The Ceramafacturers! Although I have made some, Ian now makes most of the moulds we use, starting from a 3-D form he designs and prints. I tend to then combine slip casting and hand-building. We sell mainly at pottery or craft and design shows, where my range of earthenware keepsake boxes, earthenware or stoneware bud vases/decorative bottles, porcelain mugs, planters and tea light holders, as well as my butter dishes, have been popular. There is a quirkiness to some of my pieces which often attracts the eye and makes people smile, which in turn makes me happy! 🙂
