A Major New Craft and Design Event in the Heart of Winchester Cathedral

We are delighted to announce the very first MADE Winchester Craft and Design Festival, curated by Tutton & Young. Taking place from 7–9 May 2026, this landmark event will bring together the very best in contemporary craft, design and heritage making within the magnificent surroundings and precincts of Winchester Cathedral.

APPLY TO EXHIBIT, DEMONSTRATE OR TEACH We are inviting designer-makers to:

  • Exhibit and sell their work inside the Cathedral or outside in the Inner Close
  • Demonstrate their craft to visitors (discounted stand rates available)
  • Run workshops, short classes and longer master classes as part of our lively programme of talks, demonstrations and masterclasses

This will be more than a makers’ fair – it’s a celebration of creativity, skill and imagination. Whether you’re an established designer or an emerging maker, MADE Winchester offers a unique opportunity to showcase your work in one of the UK’s most inspiring historic settings. OVERVIEW MADE Winchester Craft and Design Festival will showcase the very best in contemporary craft and design alongside heritage skills.

This three-day event will feature:     

  • Exhibitor stands inside and outside Winchester Cathedral
  • Demonstrations, talks, taster classes and masterclasses Our aim is for visitors to spend meaningful time watching, learning and engaging with makers — not simply passing through.

ABOUT THE VENUE

MADE Winchester is being organised in partnership with Winchester Cathedral, one of Britain’s most iconic and atmospheric buildings.     

  • The Cathedral: Home to the longest Medieval Nave in Europe and the final resting place of Jane Austen.
  • The Setting: Exhibitors will be located both inside the Cathedral and outside in the beautiful Inner Close.
  • Visitor Facilities: Cathedral café, gift shop, catering van and picnic area.
  • Location: Winchester is a stunning and accessible city, under an hour by train from London Waterloo.

Set Up – Wednesday 6 May 2026:

  • Outside exhibitors: afternoon – 5.30pm
  • Inside exhibitors: 6.30pm – 9.00pm

Public Opening:

  • Thursday 7 May: 10.00am–5.00pm (Special Evening: Choral Evensong & Drinks Reception 5.30pm–8.30pm)
  • Friday 8 May: 10.00am–5.00pm
  • Saturday 9 May: 10.00am–5.00pm

Pack Down – Saturday 9 May:

  • Outside exhibitors: 5.00pm–6.30pm
  • Inside exhibitors: 6.45pm–9.00pm

EXHIBITION SPACES

Inside the Cathedral

  • Tabletop displays (6ft x 2ft 4in / 1800mm x 800mm) positioned along the aisles
  • Shell scheme stands (2m x 2m x 2.4m high) with white-painted wooden walls in the Nave
  • Limited access to mains power; use rechargeable LED lights only
  • A small number of powered jewellery cabinets available by request

Outside in the Inner Close

  • 3m x 3m gazebos or marquees with evening lighting
  • Reduced-fee demonstrator spaces for active makers showing their process
  • Demonstrators should plan to engage with visitors and bring a helper for sales
  • Area enclosed and secured overnight

Stand costs

Tables inside (1800mm x 80mm) and outside gazebos (3m x 3m) start at just £475.00 (+ VAT) for all three days of the Craft and Design Festival with reduced rates offered outside for active demonstrators.
