Once you've worked at a potter's wheel and felt the delight of a pot swirling into existence under your fingers you are likely to get hooked. Nearly all my work is wheel-thrown, with the emphasis on form, decoration being a distraction. It's fun experimenting with the traditional forms, adding a tweak here or a slant there. I also produce domestic ware.
I use a variety of clays, depending on what glaze effect I am after. An iron-rich stoneware body will create quite different effects from a pale one, and porcelain quite something else besides. I fire at present in an electric kiln at 1270°C.
