Kat Wheeler
Kat Wheeler is a studio potter working in coastal North Norfolk, UK. Her work is high fired functional stoneware and Raku, fired in reduction and oxidation. She takes her inspiration from the British Studio potters of the early 20th century, relying on the natural beauty of the clay to shine alongside glazes that are predominantly a neutral palette. These reflect the landscape in and around the North Norfolk Coast and Countryside where she has her studio and gallery. Her work is always evolving and while she maintains some regular styles and forms she prefers to work experimentally producing work that is new and exciting. She pays homage to more traditional methods of pottery such as pulled handles and simple, natural high fired glazes.
