I came to pottery later in life and fell in love. I wanted to explore ceramics of the past, Roman, Egyptian and Greek. The journey has evolved, I throw with Porcelain, no glazes are used, I use terra sigilata as a base and then rely on earth, fire and combustibles to create the drama. The pots are wrapped and fired in a clay blanket and then within another pot. I either barrel fire them or saggar in an electric kiln. I have no influence on the outcomes, which is exactly how I like it. The final finish is just a wax polish and a waterproof interior.
