Hotpots

Clay is a very tactile medium and a pot can be appreciated through touch and handling as well as visually. I use the confines of vessel-based forms to explore ideas of balance, surface and texture. Using Raku firing techniques glazed areas provide a contrast to the smoked and carbonated clay surfaces produced during the post-firing reduction process. Each firing creates new possibilities which can suggest ideas for further experimentation.

I specialise in hand-built ceramics. I trained at the Bath Academy of Art and was an art teacher for over thirty years. I am now able to develop my work in my own studio concentrating on the link between form and surface.
