Georgie Field
Primarily a handbuilder and sculptor, I like to explore human-like forms, often creating expressive faces and characters. I am also a competent wheel thrower and have been developing a range of functional ware for future selling. In my functional work I like exploring glaze characteristics and have a particular interest in local reduction using electric kilns. At the end of 2023 I spent 9 weeks at the Leach Pottery assisting with a research residency in sustainable pottery, exploring how we can use electric firing to create pottery with true celadon, tenmoku, chun, and dolomite reduction glazes.
I am currently a studio member at Wysing Arts Centre and create much of my work there. I also studio share with a fellow potter in my hometown of Ely.
If you would like to collaborate on a project I’m always open to ideas, feel free to get in touch!
