Charlotte Collier-Hunter
Charlotte Collier-Hunter is a disabled artist who is inspired by the alchemy of materials and the four elements in the ancient art of ceramics.
An early adopter transhumanist with multiple upgrades, a rough trade biohacker, a goth and always the starter wife. As an anemophilous occultist with a full body tattoo, two passports and a plethora of stamps, was once described as the love child of Dorothy Parker and Sylvia Plath.
Growing up in New Zealand, her connection to nature and organic forms started early on, with a love of painting, writing poetry and performance at the heart of her life for many years; she developed her artistic ideas and craft through a life that included living in Europe, Australia and her native New Zealand.
In 2021 she founded Preaface Ceramics, producing functional bespoke pieces and sculptural works in several different stoneware clay bodies using a range of techniques to create handsomely proportioned forms with subtle surfaces that nurture a feeling of serenity.
Each collection is mindfully handcrafted with the intention of bringing to life pieces that can be passed down through generations with a desire to return to the use of heritage craft and slow living.
