Anne-Marie Mensink

Anne-Marie is a Dutch artist who has lived near King’s Lynn for over 20 years.

She has been working with clay since 1992. Anne-Marie set up her own studio after completing the BTEC National Diploma in Design Crafts (Ceramics) at the College of West Anglia in King’s Lynn in 2004.

Having retired from her job as a clinical psychologist, she looks forward to have more time ‘making pots’.

Anne-Marie makes hand-built pieces; using techniques such as coiling, slabs and extruding.  She enjoys exploring form, surface textures and combining clay with other materials. Anne-Marie is fascinated by the alchemy of making her own glazes and experiments with colour and developing textured glazes. Her inspiration comes from sources such as nature, architecture, and art. Keeping the formal design process to a minimum allows her work to develop gradually – ideas evolve from the direct experience of working with clay.

Anne-Marie makes pieces for the garden, the home and ceramic jewellery.

  • Garden pieces: planters, ‘totem poles’ (stackable tubes, disks and toppers to create your own garden sculpture), wind chimes, bee hotels
  • Pieces for the home:  candle sticks, tea lights, clocks
  • Jewellery: earrings, cufflinks, necklaces
