Alex Nisbett Ceramics
Hi 👋, I trained originally as a graphic designer, and after a career mostly seeking perfection, I now find myself returning to my first love pottery, and the opportunity to explore imperfection, serendipity and generally going where the materials take me.
I work in stoneware and terracotta, creating mostly by hand using moulds and slab building techniques, but also on the wheel. The ceramics I make seem to be as much a canvas for decoration, as they are functional objects in themselves, and are often covered with makers marks, finger prints and imperfections that seem to tell a story of how the pot was made.
I enjoy exploring the English slipware tradition, and would love to work even more closely with nature on whatever seems to make sense and bring joy.
