JAE Ceramics

My life with clay began nearly 30  years ago when, whilst living in South Africa, I initially joined classes with renowned South African potter Kim Sacks and thereafter with ceramicist and designer Loren Kaplan.

My aesthetic is inspired by Scandinavian design, traditional African wax print textiles and modern jewellery design, I mainly create functional and decorative vessels for the home on the wheel or by handbuilding with porcelain or stoneware clay. I predominantly use a single colour food-safe glaze effect to decorate my vessels and to make them watertight.

I work from my home studio in Langdon Hills, Essex under the name of JAE Ceramics, and also tutor wheelthrowing part-time in Billericay.

Selected works are available at the Alexander Morgan Gallery in Epping.
