Jan Howard Ceramics

I currently work from my studio in the Eden Valley, Cumbria producing quality functional and decorative ceramic pieces fired to stoneware temperatures.

Drawing on a love of both the coast and the surrounding countryside, my work is designed to be comfortable to use and beautiful to look at, yet always with functionality in mind. Each piece is designed to be truly unique, and this is reflected in my processes which have been developed to produce interesting and varied results through the layering of my glazes.

All of my pottery is handmade. The work is mostly thrown by hand on a wheel, then glazed and fired to stoneware temperatures. All functional pieces are microwave and dishwasher safe and ovenproof where appropriate.
