My name is Mags Rowles and I am the Head of Art here at Giggleswick school in the lovely Yorkshire Dales, we are looking for a resident ceramicist. Full job ad is here: https://www.giggleswick.org.uk/about-us/employment-opportunities
The ceramicist post, has now been re-advertised as a ‘graduate role’ with some boarding house duties at our wonderful school, a flat on campus and use of our lovely ceramics studio with some teaching. Our studio offers a large electric kiln (with a second electric kiln of similar size across campus), a smaller kiln for raku work and a pair of potters’ wheels . Applications are welcome from both throwing specialists and those engaged in other forms of hand or mould-based construction/pottery though. We have plaster bats for recycling, and we also have a large extruder and a slab roller as well as a range of moulds for slip/press moulding and casting or press mould development plus the usual tools and workspace.
The post is an ideal opportunity for someone who might like to further develop their body of work in this lovely stunning setting on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and/or who might like to gain some teaching experience/boarding experience relevant to a career in teaching or arts education, or as a practicing artist. We run weekly figure drawing sessions which the resident would be welcome to attend should they wish, and have some exciting trips.
It’s a great opportunity, if you are interested please go to our website https://www.giggleswick.org.uk/about-us/employment-opportunities or email me at mailto:[email protected] for more info on the studio and teaching side of things.
