I am a firm believer that the colour palette of our lives shapes many of our artistic choices. My work is inspired by my continental European roots, having grown up in the beautiful Harz mountains in Germany before moving to the English seaside in my teenage years and spending time more recently in the south west of France.
To this day, my glazing choices draw me back to the palette that has coloured my life, the rich green of the fir trees against snow covered hills, beaches lined with shiny pebbles and crashing variegated blue grey waves, the deep blue sea set against the impossibly blue Charentaise sky. These are the places that bring me joy and happiness and I hope to share this with you through my work.
I work in porcelain and speciality stoneware clays and I’m inspired by the tactile nature of the material and by how each different clay gives the pieces a distinctly different feel and texture. And ever since having first touched a beautifully smooth sanded mug base, I cannot resist giving all of my pieces my trademark extra smooth and strokable bottom.
My love of vintage fashion and all things old have always inspired my desire for quality and uniqueness. I want to fill my home with beautiful objects that are both practical and different. I strive to own and create pieces that are one of a kind originals that nobody else will have.
