Opportunity to be involved in Anglo-Saxon archaeology project - Rendlesham Revealed

Posted on

Suffolk County Council Archaeological Service are developing a new community archaeology project called Rendlesham Revealed:Anglo-Saxon Life in South-East Suffolk, thanks to a Development Grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund. The project will run 2020-2023.https://heritage.suffolk.gov.uk/rendleshamrevealed

As part of the Experimental Archaeology arm of this project, they are planning to build and fire an Anglo-Saxon Ipswich ware pottery kiln in Christchurch Park in Ipswich as a public event, with help and advice from Hands on Heritage, Beryl Hines and the Ipswich Archaeological Trust to do this. They hope to do a practice run in 2020 in Tunstall Forest and hold the public event in 2021.

We wondered whether any Anglian Potters be interested to be involved or help by sharing advice on pottery making?

SCCAS are contacting you now as we are preparing their Stage 2 application for a final National Lottery Heritage Fund grant, which wil be submitted this summer, with the funding decision in December 2019.
