Three degrees behind me and years of teaching now allows me to concentrate on my smoke firing techniques. Traditional hand building techniques are used. There is always an African influence, which given the very qualities of smoke firing, is appropriate. All work is biscuit fired to 960 C and then smoked in dustbins & the electric kiln, using combustible materials. I have over the last few years been experimenting with horsehair firing , as an alternative to the traditional smoke firing technique. I enjoy pushing out the boundaries and the unpredictability of the technique. Each piece is truly unique.
