I am a self taught potter hand building mainly with grogged stoneware clay. The appeal of hand building for me is that it is a slow craft and I find the repetitiveness of the forming and sculpting of the clay to be calming and meditative. The ceramics that I build are simplistic in form with minimal glazes, I prefer the addition of textures and carvings to create an organic and raw aesthetic. The rustic feel of each pot adds to its own uniqueness. Clay is such a tactile material which responds directly to your hands and forms just come into their own.
