Judith Annakie-Eriksen - JAE Ceramics

My life with clay began nearly 20 years ago when, whilst living in South Africa, I initially joined classes with renowned South African potter Kim Sacks and thereafter with ceramicist and designer Loren Kaplan.

Inspired by Scandinavian design, traditional African wax print  textiles and modern jewellery design, I mainly create functional vessels by pinching and coiling the porcelain clay, which are then decorated with slip trailing, engraved designs and glazes. I have recently begun throwing and am working on a series of joined vessels.

Since 2019, I have been living in Essex where I work from my  home studio under the name of JAE Ceramics.

Selected works are available at the Alexander Morgan Gallery in Epping.
