Rory McShane - Rory
I aim to make pottery that brings together the nature of a particular clay and glaze to give a sense of movement and stillness within the piece itself.
I work in porcelain, black stoneware and with clay dug up from the ditch near my house. There are the remains of 19th century brick kilns within half a mile , and once the flint and larger chalk particles are strained out , a very useable rugged but still malleable clay can be produced that can be fired to 1220 degrees C.
