Lucy Redman - The Lucy Redman Pottery
LUCY REDMAN POTTERY
Lucy is a plantswoman and artist who grew up next to Kersey Pottery, near Ipswich, Suffolk where my mother worked for 30 years making wood ash glazes, pugging clay and selling pots for Robert Tarling. When he moved Lucy worked as a teenager for Fred Bramham and Dorothy Gorst selling thier work and so a love of ceramics is very deep rooted. On closing The Lucy Redman Garden at Rushbrooke near Bury St Edmunds in 2015 Lucy started potttingShe is The Creative Horticulturalist at The Beth Chatto Gardens where she visits clients gardens to suggest plants. She gives talks and leads tours of the gardens and lectures in horticulture and Garden Design for The Beth Chatto Education Trust. She transfers her love of colour, form and texture into her handthrown stoneware experimenting with contemporary coloured mainly shiny glazes incorporating glass to add extra sparkle.
