John Wheeldon - March 2017

A great day with John.  Photos below.  Here is the information about the joining slip/paste.

The recipe

Dry Clay Body (the one you are using for the work) 1000gms

Feldspar  20gms

Bentonite  20gms

Gum Arabic  20gms

Method:

Mix the dry ingredients together to disperse the Bentonite.  Measure out 500ccs of water and add 5cc of Dispex.  Slowly add the dry mix to the water, whilst stirring, until a pouring slip consistency is reached.  You may not require the full amount of dry mix.  When ready for use, the defloculated slip MUST be re-floculated by adding small quantities of Magnesium Sulphate (Epsom Salts) in solution.  This action of first defloculation andthen re-floculation is important and should not be omitted.
