Current Work

My work is mainly thrown, porcelain and stoneware, for domestic use and visual enjoyment. I love textures: lace, peacock feathers, shells and shiny things and adore the process of evolving these into my ceramics.

Margaret Gardiner

I bisque to 1000C, then spray & trail slips onto the pots. I have recently evolved a particular form of vapour-glazing using a cocktail of salts that produces a lustrous iridescence. The chance nature of this method adds a welcome element of unpredictability to finely thrown pots.

Career Background

1974-1976Harrow Studio Pottery Course. Focused on salt-firing.
1976-1978Dartington Pottery Training Workshop/Peter Starkey
Pots sold in Casson Gallery, Amalgam, Atmosphere, Inate Harmony, Barclaycraft & Liberties in London & Maceys in New York.
1982 onwardsSet up workshop in Bishop's Stortford with 50 cu ft salt kiln & started teaching. Family commitments curtailed full time involvement until 2001. Now selling regularly at major ceramic shows & galleries.
