Cathy D'Arcy

• Ceramic artist - working from a studio in Hackney, East London.
• Using porcelain clay, I throw bowls, discs and cylinders on a electric wheel, which are then assembled to create a vessel.
• Surfaces are decorated with bold bands of black velvet glaze, which contrast strikingly with the white of the porcelain body.
• Interiors often feature a brightly coloured glaze.
  
  
• Much of my childhood was spent in Africa and Kuwait and I have translated this experience into a personal, creative and contemporary statement in my work.
