Background

Since becoming thoroughly obsessed with clay and attending Sir John Cass College, I embarked upon a 'making and teaching' career which has spanned 25 years.
Summers are spent running courses from my workshop, the rest of the year I make my own pots.
Throwing has always been my real love. I am particularly interested in reflecting the plasticity of the clay in the finished pot. My ideal is to have a pot which looks as good fired as when it was first lifted wet (and new born) from the wheel. The closest I have come to achieving this is with my salt-glazed pots which retain a fresh and earthy feel to them.
I also enjoy producing raku fired pots on which areas are left unglazed and the coarse, blackened clay has a very tactile surface.
