A selling exhibition of work of by selected members of Anglian Potters.
Ely Cathedral, Ely, Cambridgeshire.
Ely Cathedral has been a place of Christian worship for over 1300 years. Its origins are Saxon having begun as a monastery in 673, founded by St Etheldreda. Although it was later destroyed by the Danes, in 1081 the present structure was built to become one of the great triumphs of cathedral architecture.
The building became greater still when its central tower burnt down in 1322, and Alan of Walsingham replaced the tower with the great octagon we see today, rising to 52m (170 feet) and spanning 23m (74 feet). A sight to behold. We are particularly priveledged then, to be offered an exhibition space within the Cathedral. This exhibition promises to be of a particularly high standard, taken as it is from members who have submitted themselves to a selection panel of their peers.
Ely has rail and bus connections and also a number of well-placed free car parks.
